Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 August 2026

These terms are an agreement between you (the church or organisation using Verset) and Tolulope Akinniyi, operating Verset from Nigeria. By creating a trial, subscribing, or using the Verset application, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The service

Verset is a desktop application for displaying Bible verses during church services, with optional speech recognition that suggests verses as they are spoken, screen output for projectors and streaming software, service planning, and related tools. Some features run offline; others rely on cloud transcription and AI provided through our backend.

2. Trials

  • A trial lasts 3 days from activation and unlocks every feature, with no watermark.
  • No payment method is required to start a trial.
  • One trial per organisation and per email address.
  • When the trial ends, cloud and AI features stop working until you subscribe. The offline Bible display continues to function, subject to section 6.

3. Subscriptions and billing

  • Paid plans are billed in Nigerian Naira through Paystack on a recurring monthly or annual basis until cancelled.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Prices may change. We will give reasonable notice of any increase, and it will only take effect on your next renewal.
  • Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us.
  • If a payment fails, we allow a short grace period before access is suspended. Repeated failure may result in cancellation.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share, resell, or sublicense your access code, or use one subscription across unrelated organisations.
  • Attempt to bypass access controls, licensing checks, or usage limits.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the application except as permitted by law.
  • Use the service to transcribe or process content unlawfully, or in a way that infringes others' rights.
  • Overload, probe, or disrupt our infrastructure or the third-party providers it depends on.

We may suspend or revoke access if these terms are broken.

5. Licence and intellectual property

Subject to these terms and payment of any applicable fees, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Verset application on computers you control, for your organisation's services. Verset, its code, design, and branding remain our property. Bible translations included in the application are used under their respective licences and remain the property of their publishers; you may display them in the course of worship but not extract or redistribute them.

6. Access control

The application periodically verifies your access status with our backend. If a trial expires, a subscription lapses, or access is revoked for a breach of these terms, cloud features and — after a short offline grace period — the rest of the application may stop working. This check is a core part of how the service is licensed.

7. Third-party services

Cloud transcription and AI features depend on providers such as Deepgram, Groq, Speechmatics, AssemblyAI, and Google. Their availability and behaviour are outside our control, and their own terms may apply to that processing. See our Privacy Policy for how data is handled.

8. Availability and support

We aim to keep the service running reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Offline transcription is provided so that live captioning can continue if the internet or a provider fails. Support is offered by email on a best-effort basis.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Speech recognition is imperfect; verse suggestions are aids for a human operator to confirm, not a substitute for that operator's judgement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Verset and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or interrupted services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice where practical.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts.

13. Changes

We may update these terms as the service develops. The “last updated” date above will change, and continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
